![]() written by Karen Dagenais , July 01, 2009 Jehovah's Witnesses do not form their own conclusions and make up rules. Everything they do comes from the Bible. Read your own Bible and you will learn what God requires of all of us...READ READ READ and stop saying Witnesses make up things ..they are the only ones that read their bibles and look up history to understand better than any religion...look in your own bible and see God's name is JEHOVAH..PSALM 83:18 report abuse

The first blood tranfusion was not until 1492!I don't know what bible your reading. The bible predates that! Simply put. The bible in both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Greek/Christian writings indicate that God has placed a special meaning on blood and as such asks that blood not be used for sustenance or used an any way other than to be 'poured upon the groung'. This raises difficult decisions for the conscience of each Christian because each Christian must decide to what extent this is a command or simply a priciple. For instance should a Christian not use anti-venom which has been cultured in blood? However there are some very obvious uses of blood which directly contradict the princible of 'abstain from blood', blood transfusions being one of them. -LBH report abuse

written by Rich , February 20, 2010 I have actually had a few conversations with Witnesses and I have always found it SO funny that they bring up Psalms 83:18 and expect me to say something like "What! His name is Jehovah! I totally didn't know that! I'm totally joining your church." ... Umm... To anyone who reads the bible that fact is transparently clear. God is Jehovah. Not only will you find the name Jehovah in the Bible but anytime it reads names like Lord God you can pretty much substitute in Jehovah. It is ridiculous to think that this "revelation" about God's name being Jehovah is such a fundamental doctrine. This kind of discussion goes on and on about various Witness interpretations of scripture (regarding blood, holidays, days of Worship, patriotism...). It's just trivial interpretation. Trivial. I acknowledge there are larger issues that the Witnesses preach (ie. salvation, the afterlife) but once again, it is based on man's understanding. Am I to believe that the founders of the Witness movement were more intelligent regarding the bible than great scholars like Adam Clarke, Geikie, William Smith, and the great F.W. Farrar? These men interpret and write, but they do not break the branch and lose scope of greater teachings to separate and start a new religion. To become a witness is to put your trust in man's wisdom. report abuse

written by Kelly , February 28, 2010 "To become a witness is to put your trust in man's wisdom." In fact the opposite is true. JW's go exactly on what the bible says; nothing more, nothing less. They're very strict about it, and try to follow only the bible itself more than any other Christian denomination that I've seen. ""...about God's name being Jehovah is such a fundamental doctrine. This kind of discussion goes on and on about various Witness interpretations of scripture (regarding blood, holidays, days of Worship, patriotism...). It's just trivial interpretation..." The Bible is a very economically written book. Nothing in it is trivial. report abuse
